AT&T plans bigger asset sale - report

AT&T is preparing a bigger sale of assets in order to win regulatory clearance for its takeover of T-Mobile USA. The company is considering an offer to divest a significantly larger portion of assets than it had initially expected, a person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Though the exact size of the disposals hasn't been determined, they could be as much as 40 percent of T-Mobile USA's assets, the person said. This is expected to include the divestiture of a higher share of customers and a lower percentage of spectrum. However, analysts warned the company may have a hard time finding a buyer that doesn't raise additional competition concerns. A proposal on the asset sale could come as early as the next Justice Department hearing on 30 November, according to the report.
