Five European-based groups have joined forces as founding members of Software Republique, a new initiative that will foster multidisciplinary cooperation in the field of intelligent mobility. Open to other partners, this collaboration aims to support a sustainable ecosystem that can ensure sovereignty for Europe. Car maker Renault will house the Software Republique at its Technocentre in Guyancourt (Ile-de-France region). Atos, Dassault Systemes, STMicroelectronics and Thales will contribute with their respective expertise in areas including artificial intelligence, 3D modelling, embedded electronics, and cybersecurity.
Among its main goals, Software Republique will work on an incubator programme for start-ups and universities. An investment fund will support the most promising businesses and its members will organise a data challenge on mobility innovation (electric, connected and autonomous).
The five founding partners have identified a number of projects to work on, underpinned by three main areas of cooperation. Firstly, Software Republique will develop smart systems to facilitate secure connectivity between a vehicle and its digital/physical environment. It will also focus on data management and the flow of mobility information across territories and companies. Lastly, it will build an energy ecosystem to simplify the charging experience of electric vehicles, for example with ‘plug and charge’ points working automatically with no need of action by the user.
