Australian mobile services market declines for first time in 10 years

The Australian mobile services market experienced a decline for the first time in the past decade as the number of services in operation (SIOs) fell by 62,000 to 36.2 million connections in the six months ended June 2020, according to a report from Telsyte. The research shows that the decline in connections was mainly due to the reduction in prepaid phone users (down 5 percent from December 2019), which was impacted by lower levels of international visitors and net migration during the period.
