Austria starts third phase of broadband ducts subsidy

The Austrian Infrastructure Ministry has opened the third phase of a tender, under which municipalities undertaking excavation works for energy, water or heating pipes can apply for a subsidy from the EUR 1 billion pool reserved for broadband infrastructure, when they simultaneously lay empty ducts for broadband, reports Der Standard. The amount reserved for subsidies under the third phase is EUR 30 million. So far, EUR 16.2 million have been allocated from the first phase, and the second phase is currently subject to the evaluation of applications.
