Friday 14 November 2014 | 12:40 CET | News
Austrian transport minister Alois Stoeger said that information and telecommunication technologies remain essential for the development of business and research and announced plans to turn the country into a European innovation leader by 2020. To achieve this goal, broadband internet has to be expanded to all regions of the country. At a meeting of the Research, Innovation and Technology committee, he announced EUR 300 million will be invested in network development next year. The minister expects this expansion to boost growth in the Austrian economy and help create 25,000 new jobs in 2015.
