Austrian competition authority to investigate Amazon marketplace practices

The Austrian Federal Competition Authority (BWB) has launched an investigation against Amazon on concerns the online retail giant may have violated Austrian and EU competition law. The BWB received in December 2018 complaints about Amazon Services Europe concerning unfair trade practices against Austrian retailers active on the Amazon marketplace. After a first analysis and discussions with the European Commission (DG Competition) and the German Bundeskartellamt, the BWB decided to start a full investigation.
