Austrian digital music revenue up 10% in 2012

Music industry association IFPI Austria said the value of the music market fell 8 percent to EUR 160 million in 2012, with the online music market worth EUR 26.5 million of this, up 10 percent. Turnover from streaming surged by 50 percent to EUR 1.5 million in 2012. There were 800,000 online music customers but there are another 2.4 million potential customers who currently listen to music free via the internet, it said. Revenue from legal album downloads rose by 6.5 percent to EUR 12.5 million and downloads of single tracks went up by about 25 percent to EUR 11.5 million in revenue. iTunes
