Austrian draft 'security package' gains approval of justice, interior committees

The Austrian draft legislation called 'security package' has been passed in the Parliamentary committees for justice and the interior, reported Der Standard. The draft has been criticised for some time by the opposition parties and NGOs such as Epicenter Works, who claim some provisions of the package would inappropriately interfere with freedom and violate some of the fundamental human rights. The FPO, which criticised the draft during the former government's term, now supports it in the government coalition with the OVP.
