Austrian government contemplates digital tax without EU

The Austrian government is thinking of levying a digital tax on large companies such as Google, Facebook and Amazon, even if no such measure is finally adopted at the EU level due to the opposition of some EU member countries, reported Der Standard. The government used as argument th eneed to create equal competition. The issue is that the US-based digital companies generate immense revenues in Europe, including Austria, but do not tax profits there.
