Austrian operators want cheaper auction for 5G than for LTE

Austrian mobile operators fear that a costly auction for 5G frequencies (3400 - 3800 MHz), which regulator RTR plans for mid-2018, would slow down network construction, as was the case with the 4G auction, reported Der Standard. According to Marcus Grausam, CEO of A1, every euro spent in the auction would be taken away from network construction. The other operators, Hutchison Drei Austria and T-Mobile Austria, would also prefer to pay less than in the LTE auction, which for them was one of the most expensive in Europe, yielding EUR 2 billion for the state budget
