Austrian subsidies for broadband rollout cleared by EU

The European Commission said it has approved EUR 60 million in state aid for a newly established company owned by the state of Carinthia in Austria. The subsidies will be used for the deployment and maintenance of the infrastructure necessary to roll out broadband internet in remote rural areas of the Carinthia region, enabling households to surf at internet speeds of at least 100 Mbps in download and upload.
