Axian Group to invest USD 500 mln in Tanzania

Axian Group intends to invest USD 500 million in Tanzania following the purchase of telecommunication assets there, and is seeking more deals to expand in the region, Bloomberg reported.  A consortium led by the Madagascar-based conglomerate announced on 19  April the purchase of Millicom International's Tanzanian operations. Acquiring Tigo Tanzania and Zanzibar Telecom means Axian now controls one of the largest telecommunication operations in the country, said the news agency.
