Axtel open to merger, takeover bids

Mexican fixed-line operator Axtel does not rule out a possible merger, and plans to consider any future takeover bids it may receive, El Economista reports, citing Adrian de los Santos, Axtel's investor relations officer. Bloomberg recently reported, citing an unnamed person with knowledge of the matter, that Mexican operator Alestra planned to merger with Axtel in an attempt to gain customers.
