Azteca looking to launch Mexican satellite broadband service

Azteca Comunicaciones, the telecoms subsidiary of Mexican broadcaster and content producer TV Azteca, is examining the possibility of launching a satellite-based broadband service throughout the country, reports local daily El Economista, citing the company's satellite network director Marco Antonio Enciso Aguilar. The company has already held talks with Eutelsat, Intelsat and Hispasat about the possibility, but Enciso Aguilar cautions that the lack of Ka-band capacity is holding back the entry of new telecoms operators and may lead the company to team up with America Movil's Star One
