Baidu launches mobile app platform
Chinese search services provider Baidu has launched Baidu Yi, a mobile application platform, reports Reuters. The platform will enable third-party application developers to create applications such as games, maps and other tools that they can distribute in a similar way to Apple's App store. Baidu Yi is modelled on Google's Android mobile OS and will be rolled out to mobile devices in the future. The company also launched its new homepage which will add four features, including social networking functions. The company has also been diversifying into e-commerce, online video and online travel.

Dell, Baidu to develop mobiles, tablets for Chinese market

Dell and Chinese search engine Baidu will together develop tablet computers and mobile phones aimed at the Chinese market currently dominated by Apple and Lenovo, Reuters reported. Baidu revenues grow 78.4% to CNY 3.41 bln in Q2

Chinese search services provider Baidu's revenue for the second quarter increased 78.4 percent to CNY 3.41 billion from CNY 1.9 billion in the year-earlier period. Docomo, Baidu in mobile content tie-up - report

Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo and Chinese search services provider Baidu have agreed to distribute mobile content to Chinese mobile users. The companies plan to establish a joint venture as early as next month, in which Baidu will take an 80 percent share and Docomo a 20 percent stake, the Nikkei reports without naming sources. Baidu looking at overseas expansion

Chinese search services provider Baidu is considering expansion into more foreign markets and is investing in technology to support the plans. "We're setting up this multi-language platform to get us more ready once we do decide to go to other markets," the Wall Street Journal quotes Haoyu Shen, senior vice president for operations, as saying.
