Baidu will spin off self-driving unit eventually - CEO

Baidu will spin off its autonomous car division once it reaches maturity to attract funding and partners, though it will likely keep some stake in the new entity, CEO Robin Li told Bloomberg. Baidu wants to start producing self-driving cars on a mass scale by 2021. Li said the company remains on track to hit that target despite some technology issues that needed to be worked out.
