Bank sources deny plan to take over Etisalat Nigeria

A consortium of banks being owed USD 1.2 billion by Etisalat Nigeria has no intention of taking over ownership of the telecoms network, the Leadership reported, citing unnamed banking sources. The sources said that the action of the Etisalat Group amounts to abandoning the company's obligations in Nigeria, which include NGN 541 billion syndicated and bilateral loans approved by thirteen domestic banks but which are now delinquent.
