Barcelona and Madrid top Spanish FTTH penetration rates at end-2018

The cities of Barcelona and Madrid continue to dominate Spain's FTTH penetration rates, according to the latest data on next generation access (NGA) deployment released by telecom regulator CNMC. The data, updated to the end of 2018, revealed that Barcelona had a FTTH penetration rate of 36.3 accesses per 100 inhabitants, with Madrid posting a figure of 32.9. HFC and ADSL penetration rates lagged well behind at 4.9 and 7.6 in Barcelona, and 4.2 and 5.3 in Madrid.
