Barnes & Noble launches Nook Tablet
US books retailer Barnes & Noble is expanding its Nook range of e-readers with a tablet device. The Nook Tablet will go on sale at its shops and online on 17 November for USD 249. The Android device features a 7-inch VividView touch display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and Wi-Fi for downloading content. It comes loaded with a range of games and apps, including Hulu and Netflix. Barnes & Noble is expanding its developer programme to attract more apps for the Nook devices. It announced partnerships with Appcelerator and Mobihand to reach out to developers both in the US and abroad. The company expects 'thousands' of apps to be available on the Nook Apps storefront by the holidays. In addition, the company cut the price ahead of the Christmas shopping season of its Nook Color e-reader to USD 199 and the Nook Touch to USD 99.
