Base complains over Apple delay on iPhone 4G access

Apple is slowing down the adoption of 4G by requiring each operator to get clearance from the company for making LTE available on the iPhone, according to Belgian operator Base. While the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c all support LTE in the 1,800 MHz band, Apple requires each operator to clear the 4G service first, before offering it on the smartphone. Base said Apple is misusing this process to favour its rival Mobistar on the Belgian market. Base launched its LTE services on 01 October in the 1,800 MHz band and said it now covers 76 municipalities. Belgacom, which launched LTE services earlier,
