Base, the Belgian mobile operator owned by Telenet, announced an overhaul of its postpaid pricing, making out-of-bundle prices the same as within the plan and allowing customers to convert unused minutes to data and vice-versa. According to the company, less than 1 percent have a plan that fits their usage perfectly, and the new 'Based on you' offer is designed to adjust according to the customer's needs.
For customers who use up all their minutes in a month, any unused data in the plan can be converted to minutes. The same for those who use all the data - available minutes can be used instead as data. The units are converted at 100 minutes to 1 GB. If both are used up, customers will continue to pay the same per-minute or per-MB rate as in the bundle for additional usage in the month. If any minutes or MB are remaining at the end of the month, they can be rolled over for use in the next month. On-net calls and SMS remain unlimited on all plans.
The new offer, available from 13 September, will maintain Base's main range of four postpaid plans, at EUR 15, 25, 35 and 45 per month, with other formulas discontinued. This means the low-cost options Base 0, where customers pay by usage, and Base 9 with 250 MB and 120 minutes, will no longer be available.
