Base revenues down 12% in Q4 on price pressure

Belgian mobile operator Base recorded sales of EUR 181 million for the fourth quarter of 2013, down 12 percent from a year earlier. Service revenues were down 15 percent to EUR 158 million, which the operator blamed on price pressure due to tough competition. EBITDA dropped 22 percent to EUR 50 million. Capex increased to EUR 67 million on the roll-out of the LTE network, leading toa negative free cash flow of EUR 17 million. Helped by new plans launched earlier in the year, Base added 52,000 new customers in the quarter for a total 3.36 million at year-end, of which 953,000 were postpaid
