Base revenues fall further in Q2

Belgian mobile operator Base saw its sales trend worsen in the second quarter. Revenues fell 5.1 percent year-on-year to EUR 169 million, the biggest fall since Q4 2013. Service revenues were down 3.9 percent to EUR 149 million, and equipment sales fell 13 percent to EUR 20 million. Base blamed the fall on tough competition. In May the operator, owned by KPN but soon to be sold to Telenet, introduced new postpaid plans in an attempt to "further strengthen its price leadership".
