Base wants to quickly deploy 4G

Belgian operator and KPN unit Base wants to soon deploy a 4G network in Belgium, DataNews reported. CEO Jos Donvil said the operator plans to, from the word go, provide the same coverage and quality as Belgacom and Mobistar and not lag for two years like it did with the 3G network. The operator received a fine from BIPT for not fullfilling its coverage obligation of 85 percent of the territory. Operators will be able to offer LTE from 1 July but no operator has yet announced any plans. Base has no plans to offer fixed services, or quad play, as Belgacom, Telenet and Mobistar do.
