Bavaria finances fibre for communities, public facilities with EUR 8 mln

Friday 20 March 2020 | 11:19 CET | News
The German state of Bavaria has announced plans to finance the expansion of the fibre network for thirteen communities in Upper Bavaria by around EUR 7.38 million. In addition, 52 public facilities in the same region will receive a total of over EUR 1.47 million to be equipped with fibre and WLAN, in particular public schools, hospitals and town halls. The municipalities to benefit include Pleiskirchen, Wolfratshausen, Olching, Hausham, Prutting and Ebersberg, where a pilot project is in place to bring fibre even to areas already supplied with at least 30 Mbps service, called grey spots.
