The BBC is set to press ahead with plans to launch a new subscription streaming service to rival Netflix, reports The Telegraph. The Government's White Paper on the future of the BBC outlined permission for the corporation to develop additional subscription services over the coming years. The project is understood to have the working title 'Britflix' and involves commercial rival ITV. The plans are still at an early stage and envisage the iPlayer-based service offering archive content from UK broadcasters, as well commissioning its own original content.
