Belgacom appeals against Wallonia towers tax

Belgacom has filed an appeal at the Constitutional Court against the tax on mobile towers imposed by decree last December in Wallonia. Mobistar and Base are expected to support the case with their own appeals, L'Echo reports. The regional government aims to collect up to EUR 8,000 per year on each of the 4,500 antennas. In total, it's expected to raise around EUR 24 million, while also opening the possibility of local councils and provinces levying their own taxes on the towers. The operators have already warned that the tax will slow their investment in infrastructure in the region and put
