Belgacom backs joint venture for football rights

Belgacom announced that it's interested in a joint venture for the broadcast rights to Belgium's main football league, the Jupiler Pro League. The company said in a statement that it supports the proposal from the league and cable operator Telenet to set up a joint venture, giving multiple parties the right to show the matches. Telenet said earlier that it was planning to set up a venture with the league that would lead to a new channel to show the matches. Summaries of the matches would be offered to free-to-air channels.
