Belgian court overturns Wallonia towers tax

Tuesday 31 May 2016 | 09:19 CET | News
Belgium's Constitutional Court has overturned the towers tax imposed by the regional government of Wallonia. The tax started in 2014 raised as much as EUR 8,000 per antenna mast, costing the three mobile operators around EUR 22 million per year. The court declared the tax imposed in 2014 as illegal but the operators will not receive a refund for the first year. They are not required to pay the tax for 2015. The operators have started a similar lawsuit against another levy in Brussels.
