Belgian e-commerce grows 10% in 2016

E-commerce grew 10 percent in Belgium in 2016 to a value of EUR 9.1 billion, according to research by GfK for industry group BeCommerce, PostNL, Google and Worldoline. In total 8.4 million Belgians made 85 million purchases online. The internet increased its share to 16 percent of purchases from 14 percent in 2015, including 8 percent of all goods bought and 63 percent of services. Airline and accommodation purchases are the most common online purchases, with 85 percent of all sales occurring over the internet. Event tickets also saw 74 percent of sales online.
