Belgian govt plans cybersecurity unit in army - report

The Belgian defence ministry proposed the creation of a cyberdefence division in the national armed forces, alongside the army, navy and air force, VRT Nieuws reported citing unnamed sources at the ministry. The division would protect internet security within Belgium while also have the capability to launch its own cyber-attacks, according to the report. It could be set up by 2019. The suggestion follows a major hacking attack last year on Belgian government ministries, resulting in leaks of important political information.
