Belgian MNOs in talks with Brussels regarding 4G, radiation

Monday 25 February 2013 | 11:53 CET | News
The three main Belgian MNOs have rejected the proposals of the Brussels Region regarding radiation norms, L'Express reported. Belgacom, Mobistar and Proximus are in talks with Brussels about the introduction of LTE, which they say is hindered by the 3 V/m radiation standard. Brussels environmental minister Evelyne Huytebroeck wants to keep the standard radiation but to investigate together the available new technology and the radiation of existing networks. The operators said that keeping the norm will inevitably lead to a decline in the quality and coverage of existing 2G and 3G networks.
