Belgian parliament approves EU security directive for critical networks
The Belgian parliament has approved legislation implementing the EU's network and information security (NIS) directive. The law will take effect once it's published in the official gazette, the Cybersecurity Centre Belgium announced.

The UK government has confirmed its plan to mirror European Union rules regulating operators of critical online services ahead of its planned exit from the EU. Belgium, Luxembourg warned over late adoption of EU cybersecurity directive

The European Commission has threatened to take Belgium and Luxembourg to court for failure to transpose the Network and Information Systems (NIS) directive into national law in time. The directive aimed at increasing cybersecurity, especially for vital infrastructure networks and systems, was adopted in July 2016 and was expected to be adopted by the EU states by May 2018.
