Belgian regulator takes action against prepaid violations

The Belgian regulator BIPT has taken action against four mobile providers already for not respecting the new rules on registering prepaid customers. A spokesman told news agency Belga that four complaints had been filed with the Brussels prosecutor. This follows a report by broadcaster VTM that it was still possible to buy and activate prepaid cards in shops without going through the registration process. Belgian telecom minister Alexander de Cross issued a statement saying the violations were "completely unacceptable" and warned providers that further violations would lead to heavy fines,
