Belgium formally launches BE-Alert

The Belgian government has formally launched BE-Alert, with the participation of Belgian telecom minister Alexander de Croo and minister Jan Jambon. The system will allow the government to warn citizens in case of calamity, via mobile networks and social media. Alerts can be sent nationwide, or on a smaller, local level. Citizens who want to receive messages must first register.
