Belgium plans to step up prepaid Sim registration

Thursday 26 November 2015 | 10:25 CET | News
The Belgian government is pushing ahead with plans to obtain more information on prepaid mobile users, writes L'Echo. Around 5 million prepaid Sims in Belgium have no personal identification details attached to them, complicating the work of law enforcement officials looking to track the communications of suspects. The responsible minister Alexander de Croo and regulator BIPT have been working on the issue for some time already, and the plans are expected to accelerate as part of the broader package of security measures announced by the Belgian government since the Paris terrorist attacks.
