Belgium suffers disruption to emergency numbers, SMS alerts

The Belgian emergency numbers 100, 101 and 112 were unavailable for several hours the night of 7-8 January, public broadcaster VRT reports. After midnight people in several provinces were unable to reach the numbers due to a technical intervention by Proximus. The operator worked throughout the night to repair the problems, and the services were restored around 6.30 hours.
