Berlin court rules Facebook data transfers to third parties violate data protection law

While certain games — including The Ville and Scrabble — displayed notices informing users that their e-mail address, status updates and other information would be transferred to the provider of the game, no information was provided on the purpose for the data processing. That prevented users from giving their free and informed consent and thus violated German data protection laws, said the court.
