Berner named president of Argentine telecoms regulator

Wednesday 17 June 2015 | 10:14 CET | News
The government of Argentina has appointed Norberto Berner and Nicolas Karavaski as president and director of the new federal telecommunications regulator, AFTIC. Berner was head of Argentina's telecoms ministry SeCom while Karavaski was subcontroller at the now defunct National Communications Commission (CNC). AFTIC was created following the approval of the country's new telecoms law in December 2014. Not only will AFTIC replace SeCom and the CNC, it will also control state telecoms operator Arsat as well as the connectivity initiative Argentina Conectada.
