Bharti Airtel aborts Loop Mobile acquisition plan
Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel has dropped its plan to acquire Loop Mobile, which operates only in the Mumbai circle. The decision is due to the fact that the deal remains unapproved by the regulator, The Economic Times reports, citing Loop COO Surya Mahadevan. The COO also urged Loop customers to port their number to another network by 29 November, when Loop operations must be terminated. Loop currently has 10 senior management staff members and 190 employees. Mahadevan said movement of the employees was not included in the acquisition agreement. "We don't have full visibility of what will happen to the assets of the company," Mahadevan said.
