Bids for Yahoo core ops now seen at USD 2-3 bln - report

Bids for Yahoo's core business are expected to reach a less-than-expected USD 2-3 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. In April, market watchers put the price tag at USD 4-8 billion. Verizon Communications and other companies as well as private equity groups are expected to bid in an auction for the operations, the sources said. Other possible suitors include TPG and an investor group that includes Bain Capital, Vista Equity Partners and former Yahoo CEO Ross Levinsohn, people familiar with the matter have said.
