Biometric transactions to hit nearly 5 bln by 2019 - study

The increasing availability of contactless payment services using fingerprint scanners, above all Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, is set to push the number of biometrically authenticated transactions to nearly 5 billion by 2019, according to a new report from Juniper Research. The research revealed that the number of biometric transactions will number less than 130 million this year, with Apple and Samsung the only two providers currently using fingerprint scanners for authentication. Apple Pay is limited to the US and UK, while Samsung Pay is only available in the US and South Korea. However,
