BIPT looks to ease Brussels radiation standards

Belgian regulator BIPT said it has analysed the radiation norms in the Brussels Region and plans to recommend lowering these standards. If it does not, Brussels may not be able to get LTE. Brussels implemented strict norms for mobile antenna radiation in 2007 and 2009. Radiation for all operators together must not go higher than 3 V/m. The antennas of one operator must not exceed 25 percent of the applicable standard. The standard is the strictest in Europe and is causing many problems among operators, BIPT said. Operators argue that introducing LTE will not be possible without curtailing
