BIPT looks to extend 2G, 3G licenses for six months

Belgian regulator BIPT wants to extend 2G and 3G permits for a period of six months. The permits will all run out in less than three months, on 15 March 2021. The draft decision is now under consultation, but preparations started in February. The extension is necessary because the schedule for the upcoming Multiband auction is not yet known. The government passed a royal decree that allows BIPT to extend the permits, each time for a maximum period of six months, until the auction is completed. It is very unlikely that BIPT will be able to complete the multiband auction before 15 September of
