BIPT proposes measures to ease fixed provider switching

Belgian regulator BIPT has developed a number of measures aimed at making it easier for consumers to change their provider of fixed telecom services. The analysis of switching barriers will be used by the Digital Agenda and Telecom minister Alexander de Croo to consider possible new regulations. Consumers face problems in the switching process and receive incomplete information from providers, the regulator found. They also lack the means to compare tariffs including conditions such as installation fees. Research has found that a lot fewer consumers change fixed provider than mobile operator
