Bits of Freedom opens nominations for Big Brother award

Friday 28 August 2015 | 11:19 CET | News
Dutch digital rights group Bits of Freedom has opened nominations for its annual 'Big Brother' award. The award is given each year to the person or institution seen as the greatest infringer of personal privacy in the Netherlands. Nominations can be submitted until 08 October, after which the public will vote on a short-list of three candidates. The 'winner' will be announced 28 October. In 2014, the former justice minister Ivo Opstelten and the Dutch school system received the Big Brother award, while Edward Snowden was given the Winston Award accolade.
