BMW partners with Microsoft to develop Open Manufacturing Platform

German carmaker BMW announced at the Hannover Messe that it has partnered with Microsoft to develop the Open Manufacturing Platform (OMP), with solutions for smart factories. The solutions can be shared by the members of the platform across the automotive and manufacturing sectors. This will accelerate developments in Industrial IoT and in parallel will increase the efficiency of the production process, the company said in a statement.
