Bolivian m-banking transactions up 31% in Q1

The number of banking transactions over mobile devices in Bolivia soared to 15.8 million in the first quarter of 2017, up 31 percent on the year-earlier figure of 12.1 million, according to a report from the country's central bank. The total amount transferred in the period also rose – by 50 percent year on year – to BOB 194 million, said the central bank. Tigo Money currently dominates the country's m-banking market, accounting for over 70 percent of transactions, although state-owned Entel is set to shortly launch a rival service called Entel Financiera in partnership with Banco Union and
