French operator Bouygues Telecom has widened the frequency band used for LTE of 1800 MHz antennas in 13 cities from 10 MHz to 15 MHz. The measure, which involved reducing the band used for 2G, will increase LTE capacity and service quality. The cities affected are Avignon, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Toulon, Nimes, Rennes, Grenoble, Chartres, St Etienne, Rouen, Perpignan, Lyon and Bordeaux. Bouygues said that it would do the same in over 1,600 municipalities this summer.
