Bouygues may wait long for 1800MHz refarm decision - report

Although French operator Bouygues Telecom expects an answer to its request to refarm 1800Mhz spectrum from 2G to 4G in the first quarter, it may not get one until the second half or in early 2014, writes Les Echos, citing talk of a government-sought delay. Bouygues stands alone in seeking to reuse the spectrum for LTE, as the country's bigger operators, Orange and SFR, want to wait until mid-2014, fearing Bouygues would have a monopoly in national 4G until their 800Mhz and 2.6GHz networks are extended beyond a few, then a dozen cities. Free Mobile will not support Bouygues' effort to refarm
